May 26 | City Club of Central Oregon Forum: Building Resiliency into Living with Wildfire

Thursday, May 26, 2022 (11:30 AM - 1:00 PM) (PDT)

Description

We will examine the steps taken over the past 30 years to help our communities combat fire at the urban interface and what steps are being taken going forward. Whose responsibility is fire protection in our neighborhoods? How do we develop new housing and remodel in fire safe ways?

Moderator: Zack Demars with The Bulletin

Panelists:

  • Jodie Barram, Co-Coordinator with Oregon Living With Fire
  • Bill Boos, Deputy Fire Chief at Bend Fire & Rescue
  • Craig Letz, Tamarack Wildfire Consulting

This is the first in a two-part series with The Bulletin to examine our region’s adaptability and resilience to a changing climate. The Bulletin will produce a series of articles on the topic prior to the City Club forum. Following the forum, we will host several Solutions Workshops on the topic to take the discussion further. The second topic: Building Resiliency into Regional Drought will be in August.

All forums are recorded and available on our YouTube page.

Energy Trust of Oregon operates under a fuel-neutrality policy decided by our board. The policy clarifies that Energy Trust serves both gas and electric customers and one of our goals is to help customers be as efficient as possible with the fuel type they already have. As such, Energy Trust does not encourage customers to switch from one fuel type to another. However, we can and should educate and advise customers on their options. We should also answer questions without recommending one fuel over another.
