August 20: Redefining the Region-Urban Renewal in Central Oregon

Thursday, August 20, 2026 (11:30 AM - 1:00 PM) (PDT)

Description

As Central Oregon continues to evolve, the tools we use to shape our region are increasingly utilized and scrutinized. This panel brings together key voices from across the region, including representatives from our cities, land use advocates, and local developers, to explore the role of Urban Renewal and Tax Increment Financing (TIF) in funding vital infrastructure, affordable housing, vibrant downtown cores, and beyond. Our panelists will describe the balance between stimulating economic development, managing rapid expansion, and preserving the unique environmental and community character that defines our region.

Confirmed Speakers:

  • Jonathan Bach, The Oregonian (Moderator)
  • Chuck Arnold, City of Redmond
  • Corie Harlan, Central Oregon LandWatch
  • Jonathan Taylor, Bend Urban Renewal Agency
  • Kirk Schueler, Brooks Resources Corporation

Join us for a candid conversation about how public policy and private investment intersect to build the Central Oregon of tomorrow.
